Kat Sholan Sun

M.L.S., R.Y.T., Ayurvedic Apprentice

Kat Sholan Sun formerly came to Blue Sage Ayurveda with an open and sincere heart to be of service in bringing forth light, love, and compassion into our collective consciousness. At Blue Sage Ayurveda, she was honored to join the team in holding space for each individual client’s personal healing journey towards optimal health, joy, ease, and wellbeing.

Kat began her ayurvedic studies at Vedika Global in Emeryville, CA, with Pratichi Mathur, in the 1-year Certificate Program in Ayurveda Fundamentals and Self-Care, a 600-hour course. She continued to deepen her studies of ayurveda at the California College of Ayurveda (CCA) in Nevada City, CA. She has completed the Ayurvedic Massage Body Therapy course at CCA under the direct tutelage of Ragaia Belovarac, and worked as an apprentice with Ragaia Belovarac at Blue Sage Ayurveda in Nevada City, CA.

Kat comes to the art and science of ayurveda through her years of exploration on the path of yoga. She has been studying, practicing, and teaching yoga in some form since 1996, and is blessed to have studied with an array of teachers and styles through the years, including Iyengar, Ashtanga, Anusara, Yin, etc. She has completed a +700-hour Advanced Studies Teacher Training in the Iyengar style of yoga at Piedmont Yoga Studio in Oakland, CA, under the tutelage of Rodney Yee, Richard Rosen, Maritza, and Clare Finn. She has also completed a 100-hour Advanced Studies Training in the Anusara style of yoga with Maritza, and assisted Maritza in the same training in a following year. Most recently she has been studying with senior-Iyengar teacher Ramanand Patel in San Francisco, CA, and is currently in the process of studying with Tias Little at Prajna Yoga, Santa Fe, NM, in his 200-hour Teacher Training program. She is a registered yoga teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, and offers both public and private classes in a quiet, intelligent, vinyasa-flow style.

Kat is an artist of mandala and sacred art paintings, as offered at Blue Sage Ayurveda, as well as creator of beautiful knitted creations. She is an enthusiast and student of Jyotish (Vedic Astrology), with visions to incorporate this powerful ancient wisdom tradition into the healing work someday. In addition, she is a trained architect and landscape architect, with interest in sacred space, healing space, medicinal plants, the art of placement, and bringing beauty and moments of sacredness into our daily living.
