About Pancha Karma Therapies
Ayurvedic Pancha Karma and Rejuvenation body therapies are designed to nourish the physical body and access the subtle body where stored emotions and thought forms can create blockages in our energetic flow. By traveling deeper through the techniques of these therapies, one can experience healing on many different levels. The following Ayurvedic body therapies are included in the offering of Pancha Karma or Rejuvenation programs, and are customized to each individual depending on their unique set of imbalances present at the time of daily assessment in program by an Ayurvedic Practitioner.
Warm Herbal Oil Massage (Abyhanga)
This warm herbal oil massage is a combination of choreographed strokes and intuitive movements that are designed to bring nourishment to the tissues, deep relaxation to the muscles and calmness to the mind. Because each body type is unique, the oil combinations are blended with specific herbs or essential oils to meet your special needs.
Profound Relaxation Therapy (Shirodhara)
Shirodhara is a simple, yet profound treatment that works specifically on balancing and stabilizing the activity of the mind. Warm, dosha specific oils and herbs are beautifully streamed over the Ajna Chakra or third eye taking the participant on a journey deep within. Shirodara is highly effective in normalizing sleep cycles, and reduces insomnia.
Cedar Steam Box (Svedana)
Follow your warm oil massage with an exquisite herbal steam treatment that will leave you feeling clear, rejuvenated and deeply moisturized. Medicinal herbs like Lavender, Chamomile, Bay Leaf, Eucalyptus, Rosemary and Peppermint help to clear the channels, relax the muscles and nurture the senses.
Low Back Oil Therapy (Katti Basti)
This is an ancient treatment for healing back pain. Warm medicinal oils are retained by a dough dam placed over the lumbar or thoracic region of the back. Anti-inflammatory herbs such as St. John's Wort and Nirgundi and nervine tonics such as Brahmi are used to heal and strengthen the tissue.
Eye Rejuvenation Therapy (Netra Basti)
A similar treatment to Katti Basti with the focus being on the eyes. Medicated oils are used to help manage eye conditions such as glaucoma, eyestrain and various other eye diseases. Triphala, chrysanthemum and eyebright are used.
Kidney and Adrenal Rejuvenation Therapy (Adrenal Basti)
A fast paced life, emotional stress, caffeine and other substances can all lead to Adrenal burnout. This chronic state of stress can deplete the body in detremental ways causing hormonal imbalance, depression and degenerative disease. Replenishing the Adrenals system is essential in maintaining good health and well-being.
Chakra Dough Basti
Warm medicinal oils and essential oils are retained by a dough dam placed over a specific chakra or plexus to balance underactive or overactive energy. This treatment is selected by your body therapist for the Svadhisthana (2nd) chakra, Manipura/Solar Plexus (3rd) chakra, and Anahata/Heart (4th) chakra depending on your unique constitution.
Sinus Rejuvenation Therapy (Nasya)
A beautiful face and shoulder massage is followed by a heat treatment using warm packs and hot towels to open the pores, improve the skin's luster, purify and clear the nasal and sinus passages. Dosha specific oils are then administered to the nasal passages to normalize the absorption of prana and lift the spirit.
Colon Therapy (Niruha Basti / Anuvasana Basti)
A practitioner guided, self-administered Ayurvedic style enema formulated of medicinal oils and herbs to cleanse, tone, and rejuvenate the lower gastrointestinal tract and to further compel the elimination of accumulated toxins.
